March officially marks the start of summer in the Pinoy calendar, and for most of us, the scorching summer heat is a perfect excuse for some good ol’ sun basking in local resorts.
One of my favorite ones outside Manila is Sitio Lucia Garden Resort in Sta. Maria, Bulacan. It’s not as impressive as say, Eight Waves Resort, but it’s one of the more well-kept budget resorts this side of the country. And it’s a mere 30-minute drive from home, and that’s definitely a plus for us.
Although tipping somewhat average on the scale of themed resorts, what makes this conference resort hotel sell is it value for money. For P150, guests are able to enjoy six expansive pools from 8am till 5 (nighttime swimming is P180 while overnight is P220), including a kiddie pool with themed slides and life-sized ‘shrooms. There’s also a man-made waterfalls and alternative recreational activities available such as KTV, billiards, and a game room.
Tables and sheds are big enough for their estimated capacity, although you can’t really count on these when safekeeping valuables as there are no locks nor gates that protect them (unless you’re renting a cabana or a hotel room, which starts at P1,200 for a group of 6). Otherwise, you could rent one of their picnic tables or sheds (starts at P300 for 6 persons, P500 for 10 and P750 for 15).
Kids would certainly enjoy these colossal dinosaur sculptures surrounding the resort’s landscaped garden. There are over fifty of them.
Things worth raving about:
- Extensive and free parking space
- Budget-friendly rates and value for money
- Allows guests to bring in food and drinks inside except alcohol
