Brisk walking at dusk for me is more than a way to burn off the excess post-pregnancy fat deposits (still have 11 more pounds to burn!). It somehow diverts the fiery urge to travel to a similar activity, though more grounded and less expensive. It is a personal activity that my daughter and I share, outside breastfeeding, chores and office work.

It is the only activity where we see things from a similar perspective. During walks, I am not the mother who feeds and oversees the child. During these times, we are both children, marveling at colors, animals, flowers and kids on their bikes.

Snails on a papaya tree. Eeew. |
I realized that I must’ve undermined the beauty of flowers in the past. I was never a flower person.I’d prefer a book or a nugget of Goya. Now I’m beginning to see why many girls find these incredibly adorable. No matter how small or familiar, a closer look reveals how intricately pleasant they are in appearance. They’ve become one of my favorite things to take pictures of. I even bought 5 bundles of Amarillo flowers from a plant supplier nearby (For only P50! A real steal!).
