Are you a sucker for spicy food? Do you often crave for coconut milk-based Bicolano specialties? If you answered yes, then this giveaway fits the bill just right.

About a year ago, my mom went on to rent out a space along South Super Highway, a stone’s throw from the famous Aling Nene’s, to fulfill her dream of cooking for a bigger audience. Aptly named Sili at Gata, the store offers soul-stirring Bicolano specialties, mostly laced with rich coco milk such as Bicol Express, laing, adobo sa gata, ginataang tilapia and dinuguan sa gata. Also on the menu are other regional Filipino dishes like sisig, binagoongang baboy, and kandingga (bopis), and Jigs’ favorite among the bunch, Beef Curry (along with Bicol Express). Mine is igado, laing and lengua. Sadly, the lengua’s already phased out as of this writing.

Bicol Express. You’ve to be ready for that zing. This one is super hot.

As a true-blue Bicolana who hails from Albay, she has mastered the art of cooking creamy, mouthwatering authentic Bicolano dishes with that nice spicy kick. As her daughter, I would tell you that the one thing I learned from my mother when it comes to cooking is to never scrimp on the ingredients – even condiments like soy sauce needs to be great, not just average; never settle for commercial grade. Being so particular with food quality, the momma occasionally gets offers to cater at intimate events.

Igado
The nice thing about her store is that each serving is pre-packed in 200-gram servings then sealed in microwaveable containers immediately after cooking (post-cooling, of course) to maintain the quality and freshness. The food is then stored in the fridge, so customers can bring it to the office or at home and not worry about spillage or it going rancid.

Surprisingly, the quality of the food doesn’t change despite age. Perfect for all ya busy bees who don’t have time to cook.Otherwise, you can opt to eat it at the store if you like. They’d microwave it for you – no extra charge.

We take these goodies from Manila to our home in Bulacan and they remain cold and fresh even after a 3-hour drive. Every food we took home from there retained that wonderful flavor and rich texture even after a week of storing it in the fridge.

Beef curry. Sarap ‘to, promise.

We want to extend my mother’s home-cooked meals to you and experience how heartwarming they are yourself. So, we’re giving away P400 worth of goodies (This is enough to buy 4 or 5 viands. Price differs per dish) from Sili at Gata. As usual, we’re using Rafflecopter so it should be easy peasy. Simply like the Filipina Explorer and Sili at Gata page.
