Mt. Cloud Bookshop, North Haven Spa and Cinematheque at Casa Vallejo, Baguio

Because I’m still a bit dreary about numbered days. Because the smell of old books and small cobwebbed corners where you can curl up with a book without getting that what-a-dork look is pure magic to me. Because I am amazed that a small century-old dorm-turned-hotel dedicated a portion of its land area to a room that showcases indie films, sometimes for free; and an even larger space for bibliophiles to read books that literary luminaries themselves adore – for as long as they desire.

Because there are so many things in Baguio that leaves you in awe.

Mt. Cloud Bookshop

Whimsical and quirky, Mt. Cloud Bookshop is a place for people who seek the pleasure of books and appreciate the value of fine writing. It specifically carries artisan books and contemporary material, including those crafted by Filipino writers who have made Baguio their home.

In the words of sisters and owners Feliz and Padmapani Perez:

“In Mt. Cloud Bookshop,we like for time to move slowly, as the fog does. Mt. Cloud Bookshop is our dream come true, and if you love books, then it’s yours too.”

Indeed.

The shop also sells various stationery, tote bags, indigenous shirts and other premium souvenir items.

Mt. Cloud Bookshop is accessible via a flight of stairs at the right side of Casa Vallejo, just next to Hill Station.

North Haven Spa
North Haven Spa is located at the left side of Casa Vallejo and is one of Baguio’s most esteemed spa houses. It offers traditional Cordilleran massage using oils and scrubs concocted from local produce such as Baguio strawberries and Benguet coffee.
