During Lia’s check up/ routine vaccination last weekend, the sonologist’s assistant from the hospital I used to volunteer in asked, “Buntis ka ba uli?”

I was not surprised. It’s not the first time a native of Bocaue used weight as an icebreaker to a conversation. It’s the norm in the town, Jigs says.

Ah tumaba ka lang talaga?” The woman didn’t seem to be the least bit concerned about coming on too crass.

  2. Yes, parang ganun na nga naging greeting na. But mas malala in the province. I think it doesn't occur much to Pinoys that weight can be quite a sensitive issue especially to women.

'Yun ang mahirap, pag bad mood. Makakatikim talaga. Haha!
